AI for Finance Summit Tokyo 2026 Event Report

On October 22, 2026, LinqAlpha, a portfolio company of Z Venture Capital (ZVC), hosted AI for Finance Summit Tokyo 2026 at Kioi Tower in Tokyo Garden Terrace Kioicho.

The event was sponsored by LSEG, AQR, and AWS. To help strengthen LinqAlpha’s presence in Japan, ZVC worked with LinqAlpha and the sponsors to support the event, including arranging the venue.

More than 100 participants attended, including professionals from the buy side, sell side, and data and infrastructure sectors. In Joon Hwang, Managing Partner and CEO of ZVC, delivered the opening remarks. The sessions explored how AI can create an investment advantage in Japan, sharing practical use cases and discussing the challenges of adoption.

How AI Is Changing the Way Investors Understand Japanese Companies

One theme came up repeatedly throughout the sessions: AI is changing how investors around the world research and understand Japanese companies.

Overseas investors can now use AI to analyse Japanese-language disclosures, lowering language barriers. The sessions also highlighted how data on boards and shareholder structures can help investors identify early signs of corporate change and risks that might otherwise go unnoticed.

At the same time, the discussions highlighted the value of first-hand insights gained through meeting management, listening to customers, and visiting stores. As more investors use the same data and similar AI models, independent research, direct dialogue, and human judgment can help set an investment approach apart.

Drawing on the networks built through our offices in Tokyo, Seoul, and San Francisco, ZVC creates opportunities for portfolio companies to connect with businesses and investors in each market. We will continue working across our offices to help portfolio companies build relationships with local partners, strengthen their presence, and expand across borders.
