On June 5, 2025, Wrtn Technologies Japan (“Wrtn”), a portfolio company of Z Venture Capital (“ZVC”), hosted a launch event at The Peninsula Tokyo to unveil its new AI character chat platform, Charap.

Charap is an immersive chat simulation service that allows users to create and interact with AI characters, each with distinct personalities and storylines. The service officially launched today (as of June 10).

The launch event drew attendance from dozens of media outlets. ZVC’s Managing Partner and CFO, Koichi Matsudaira, also joined the event to share insights on ZVC’s journey with Wrtn to date and expectations for the company’s future.

At the event, media representatives raised a wide range of questions about Charap’s core features, success stories from Korea, and plans for expansion into the Japanese market. Mr. Masuda, Representative Director of Wrtn Japan, introduced the platform’s key functionalities and shared the company’s outlook:

・Character Creation: A seamless, all-in-one editor that enables users to easily build characters—from profile images to personality traits

・Image Generation: A feature that automatically generates images based on keywords during chat interactions

・Customization Flexibility: Designed to serve both casual users with ready-made templates and advanced creators seeking full customization options

On the topic of monetization—an area of strong interest among Japanese users—Mr. Masuda shared that in Korea, some creators are already earning hundreds of thousands of yen monthly, with standout cases generating over 1 million yen from a single character. The team expects a new wave of “full-time character creators” to emerge in Japan as well.

A live demo station was also set up at the venue, allowing reporters to experience Charap firsthand.
